The Alpine Slope Dwelling
A residence embedded in a mountainside, where a circular courtyard reconciles subterranean construction with daylight, outlook and domestic comfort.

Landscape as the starting point
Rather than placing a new volume above the slope, the architects set the dwelling into it. A circular incision creates the principal opening, while an existing vernacular barn forms the entrance. The architectural ambition is landscape integration, not a claim of protective performance.
A luminous interior
The central patio exposes a broad façade to daylight. Window positions reveal the differing interior levels, described by the architects as nested concrete boxes. Oak panels, doors and natural stone steps temper the concrete interior with tactile materials.
Services beneath the surface
The architect documents thermal insulation, a ground-source heat pump, radiant floors and a heat exchanger. These are published system descriptions; equipment capacities, construction details and independently measured performance are not supplied in the cited source.
